October ‘26 Newsletter
We kicked off the year with projects inspired by International Dot Day and admirable humanitarians. We read “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds and explored Yayoi Kusama's incredible artwork, “Polka Dot Princess.” Here is a glimpse into what each grade created during September:
Kindergarten: Students explored primary colors using markers and experimented with blending them to create all the colors in the rainbow.
1st Grade: Students practiced line and form by drawing vibrant concentric circles in rainbow order using paint sticks.
2nd Grade: Students learned about warm and cool color families and created bold concentric circle designs with oil pastels.
3rd Grade: Students designed playful ice cream cone artworks by stacking colorful dot scoops with paint sticks and colored pencils.
4th Grade: Students created a color wheel cone with paint sticks and detailed Sharpie patterns. These will hang in the hallway as 3d displays!
5th Grade: Students designed paper wind mobiles featuring warm and cool colors and intricate patterns. These 3d scupltures will be hanging in our hallways!
6th Grade: Students used oil pastels to create abstract compositions with concentric circles and wavy lines, using warm and cool colors.
7th & 8th Grade Elective Art: Students submitted original artworks to the Roberto Clemente art competition centered on sportsmanship, community, and helping others.
Happy art-making,
Ms. Lynch
